Depeche Mode releases Anton Corbijn directed video for "Cover me"

Iconic, multi-platinum selling musical pioneers Depeche Mode have debuted the music video for their track Cover Me

Depeche Mode has always placed an essential emphasis on the quality of their videos, collaborating with world-class directors on some of the most powerful and influential short films in music video history. Cover Me is no exception.

Directed by their longtime creative collaborator, Dutch photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn, Cover Me features a pensive Dave Gahan, dressed in astronaut attire, restlessly wandering through an empty Los Angeles and adrift in space. Shot in black and white with heavily contrasted light and shadow, the video is as moody as the song itself.

Says Gahan, “A big surprise for me was how ‘Cover Me’ ended up being. I always heard this idea of the song being in two halves. The song is here and then you kind of get in the spaceship and go somewhere else.”

Cover Me is one of the key tracks from ‘Spirit’, Depeche Mode’s 14th studio album. Produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, the album debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries including Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal and Denmark. Proving to be not only a fan but critic favorite, ‘Spirit’ additionally debuted in the Top 10 in 15 countries, including coming in at No. 5 in the United States and the United Kingdom.

In addition to the new video, Depeche Mode is offering expansive Cover Me remix packages for fans. Three separate formats of remixes will be available simultaneously on October 6th; digital version, CD version and Vinyl version.
