Rami Malek takes home Golden Globe trophy for Best Actor for his riveting performance in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

The Queen biopic took home two Globes for Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for star Rami Malek on Sunday night at 76th Goden Globe awards in Los Angeles. The award came as a surprise to many, considering the movie’s mixed reviews and criticism about how it portrayed Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s life. Sadly Bradley Cooper’s ‘A Star Is Born’ lost out despite five nominations.

The Golden Globes kick-started with the who's who of Hollywood setting the red carpet on fire and then turned into an eventful night with the awards being announced inside the The Beverly Hilton ballroom.

The cordial mingling between television stars and movie stars couldn’t get better with Amy Adams overachieving and being nominated in both the film and television categories, jokes about alcohol being served, and witty banter between co-hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh.

The Golden Globes honor the best performances in film for the previous year. Additionally, Alfonso Cùaron won Best Director for his acclaimed film ‘Roma’.

In the television categories, the evening’s most-nominated show, ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, won Best Limited Series, and star Darren Criss won for Best Actor in a Limited Series. Netflix’s freshman series ‘The Kominsky Method’ won Best Comedy or Musical, and star Michael Douglas won Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. And FX’s ‘The Americans’ won Best Drama for its sixth and final season.
