One of Bengaluru’s most exciting music producers, Ketan Bahirat has released a new single, Let You Go, under his solo electronic music project, Oceantied. The single is accompanied by a stunning music video shot in Ladakh, directed by Bosco Bhandarkar and produced by Red Bull Media House. A film director, Bhandarkar has been in the business for two decades and directed numerous ad films and promos during this time.

A dystopian story about a scarcity of water, set in a kind of future, this video tells the story of a boy’s journey to the water warriors of Chulshul, a magical place nestled at the sangam. The boy undertakes this journey over days and encounters fellow travelers and a goat. He reaches his destination and exchanges three pomegranates for a pint of the sacred Chulshul water. The boy returns home with the water and an old man finds peace. The video ends with the dance of the spirits by the water body.

“With the music video, initially I just had images of a very lonely/outer-worldish place and had a vivid dystopian visual playing in my head. After sharing some thoughts about the same with Bosco, he came up with the concept so I'd consider the whole video a collaboration,“ says Bahirat.

A groovy epiphany from Oceantied’s bedroom studio, Let You Go encapsulates the emotion of moving from a melancholic feeling to that of inner discovery. A liberation from being held back within oneself from attempting the new. The track is filled with smooth chords and lush melodies creating an almost-blissful atmosphere with a percussive groove to match.

Formerly a guitarist with the now defunct post-rock band Until We Last that he founded, Oceantied is Bahirat’s exploration of his electronic music headspace. His first release under the moniker came in 2014, a song called Tides.

Following this, Bahirat’s rise in the Indian electronic music scene was swift. 2016 turned out to be a landmark year for the musician, as he played two major European music festivals, Outlook and Dimensions, became the only Indian to be selected to attend that year’s edition of Red Bull Music Academy and then played at the first Boiler Room session in India.

Towards the end of the year, he also released his first EP, Tribes, which took inspiration from his view of the world around him. The EP release was accompanied by a four-city tour in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy.

Over the course of the next couple of years, Bahirat continued to tour the country, while also working on a host of new music, which he plans to release in 2019.
