Britain's blues artists 'The Mick Clarke Band' to premiere in India with Simply The Blues

Considered as one of the finest blues guitarists to come out of UK, Mick Clarke with his band, will be performing in India for the first time as part of the 3rd edition of Simply The Blues music festival this October.

​​The act will be headlined by Big Bang Blues, a blues artist group from Delhi. Formed in 2009,  this 6 piece band draws its influences from Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Funk and Rock. ​

The modern electric blues guitar is characterised by the sounds of the 3 Kings of blues guitar – B B King, Albert King and Freddie King. Mick Clarke honed his musical chops backing the legendary Freddie King on two tours of Europe.  Praised for his fiery "straight from the wood" guitar sound, Mick and the band lay out a groove that is hard rocking as ever.

Touring with blues legends Howlin Wolf, Otis Spann, Johnny Winter, to opening for Muddy Waters, Mick Clarke lays it on the line with raw explosive riffs. Mick Clarke band began his solo career in the 80's by appearing on numerous festivals with artists such as Robert Cray, Johnny Winter and the late Rory Gallagher. Mick's first solo album "Looking For Trouble" came out on the Italian label Appaloosa in the early 80s and sold well. More albums quickly followed, with “Crazy Blues” being their recent release this year.

The Mick Clarke Band comprises of Mick Clarke on vocals and lead guitar, Chris Sharley on drums and Ed Masters on bass guitar. To be showcased exclusively by Starkonnect Events & Promotions, in their twin city tour (Mumbai-25th Oct’14 and Bangalore-26th Oct’14), as part of their “Simply The Blues” concerts. Now an established name on the European Blues scene, Mick Clarke and his Band tours regularly in every country from Finland down to Italy, and aim to promote the Blues via their first foray to India this year. Early festival appearances include the Belgium R&B Festival in Peer, while the US tours established a worldwide reputation for the band. Recent tours have included appearances at the Baden Blues Festival in Switzerland, "Blues Express" Luxembourg, "Rock at Sea" in Stockholm, Sweden, "Seven Nights to Blues" in France and the Bragdoya Blues Festival in Norway.

In 2014 British Blues Guitarist Mick Clarke presents his new album "Crazy Blues", with thirteen brand new tracks of rocking blues, featuring Mick's Gibson guitar and Fender slide playing. THE MICK CLARKE BAND began in the early 80s and has become an established name on the European scene, touring regularly in every country from Finland down to Italy. Praised for his fiery "straight from the wood" guitar sound, Mick has appeared on numerous festivals with artists such as Robert Cray, Johnny Winter and the late Rory Gallagher.

Mick began his career with KILLING FLOOR part of the British blues boom of the late 60s, contemporaries of bands such as Led Zepellin and Black Sabbath. The band backed Texas blues guitar star Freddie King and toured with legends such as Howlin' Wolf and Otis Spann. In the mid 70s Mick co-formed SALT a powerful blues-rock act who were a big hit on the London scene playing regularly at the Marquee and other top venues. The band played at the Reading Festival and also opened for Muddy Waters at two major London concerts. THE MICK CLARKE BAND originally started working around the London area in the early 80s, but quickly received offers of work from mainland Europe and the United States. Early festival appearances such as the Belgium R&B Festival in Peer confirmed their appeal for continental audiences, while US tours established a world wide reputation for the band. Recent tours have included appearances at the Baden Blues Festival in Switzerland, "Blues Express" Luxembourg, "Rock at Sea" in Stockholm, Sweden, "Seven Nights to Blues" in France and the Bragdoya Blues Festival in Norway. Mick has headlined the Saturday night at the Great British R&B Festival in Colne, England as part of the British Blues All Stars.. also featuring Kim Simmonds and Maggie Bell. Mick has also toured several times in the U.S.A. and appeared with artists such as Johnny Winter and Canned Heat. The Southern California Blues Society called him "One of the finest blues players to come out of England".
