It's All Systems Go! for Vh1 Supersonic

All devout electronic dance music fans will unite this winter, making sure to transform the shores of Goa into a giant dance floor! This December Goa’s premium beach event Vh1 SUPERSONIC is going to up the heat with an amalgamation of some of the world’s best artists uniting on one stage to dole out pulsating beats that will transport music enthusiasts into an unparallel world of unadulterated music and dance. The event promises to ensure a scaled up musical experience with Electronic Dance Music that does not dictate, preach or judge but breaks all barriers of elitism and hierarchy. Conceptualised and produced by LIVE Viacom18 and M/s Starlight Events & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, Vh1 SUPERSONIC 2013 has received the State Level Event Permission Committee (SLEPC) to host this festival. The next 48 hours will see action unfold with an announcement of the intriguing artist line-up and bookings begin in full throttle. Get ready to experience this 5 DAY musical madness at Goa’s preferred music destination Candolim Beach from 26th to the 30th of December 2013.

Vh1 SUPERSONIC 2013 aspires to give serious music lovers an electrifying experience capturing some of the finest artists from the dance music community across the globe. With Viacom18’s huge broadcast strength, leverage of iconic music brands like MTV & Vh1 and considerable knowledge of events across all platforms – not forgetting Nikhil Chinapa’s in-depth understanding of the global dance music industry –Vh1 SUPERSONIC promises to create a truly unforgettable experience on the sands of Goa in just a few weeks time. The festival will witness a galaxy of Indian and International artists performing live under one single roof to deliver a consummate and an unparalleled EDM experience that India has been awaiting.

Speaking on the launch of Vh1 SUPERSONIC 2013, Ferzad Palia Head, English Entertainment, Viacom18 said “Vh1 has been the front mover in the English music scene and has been the ultimate destination for International English Music enthusiasts. Now Vh1 Supersonic all set to be a tipping point for dance music in India. Commenting on the launch of Vh1 SUPERSONIC 2013, Jaideep Singh, Sr. Vice President and Business Head – INS, Viacom18 said, “We sincerely thank the Chief Minister of Goa and the Government of Goa for having faith in our maiden endeavour of providing serious EDM lovers a destination to experience a blend of popular and underground music. With this long term unique collaboration with the Government of Goa that extends to 4 mega events through the year, we will move towards establishing Goa as the ultimate music destination on the global music map. Through this particular event we are all set to provide unparallel scale and grandiose that will redefine live events in India. The festival, consisting of three stages and multiple after parties, will keep festival goers entertained throughout the 5 days.”

India’s much loved DJ, VJ and dance music promoter; Nikhil Chinapa with his extensive understanding of the Indian dance music industry will be adding another dimension to the festival in the capacity of ‘Festival Director’. Known as a much sought after name in the global dance music festival fraternity who have efficaciously executed some of the world’s most prolific events across Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Puerto Rico, and London, Insomniac Events will be working closely with LIVE Viacom18 in putting this festival together to deliver top notch production and sound quality.

Vh1 Supersonic aspires to reinstate this spirit of community, connection and conversations in dance music that has been lacking in many electronic music festivals conducted in the recent past. The festival will connect fans directly with the artists they love and become a sanctuary for forward-thinking music fans seeking life-affirming experiences. Adding a dash of international experience art installations, hippy market, solar powered stalls, beach sports, graffiti panels painted through the festival, chill-zones to combat the afternoon sun, a library to relax in local sustainable charities that fans can engage with and contribute towards coupled with the best cuisine. This event will also have strong emphasis on security for women. Specialized teams will be trained to monitor the festival and will work closely with local authorities to ensure that all festival goers indulge in safe and legal revelry.

Supersonic is also offering a 5 day pass for its inaugural event in Candolim, Goa, from December 26-30, to anybody with an official passport from Malaysia! Each year this truly unique enterprise – coined ‘Host a Country’ – will offer free tickets to all citizens of a particular chosen country, in what is one the most benevolent international gestures made by any festival to date. To celebrate this incredible project, Vh1 Supersonic has brought in local Malaysian powerhouse duo Goldfish & Blink to christen the first day of the event by bringing their unique style of infectiously explosive electro music to the shores of Candolim. This will be the first time Goldfish & Blink have every set foot on Indian soil, so expect big things!

Following this, Vh1 Supersonic has also unveiled the final wave of talent set to grace their highly anticipated debut event! On the 30th of December, the Lab Stage will be taken over by UK bass mavericks, Engine-Earz Experiment. After their season premiere of the Dewarists on MTV India and a hyper-charged winter India tour, they will curate a stage to represent India's ever-growing bass generation. Joining them will be some of the most prolific names in electronic music from the UK and India. This is for sure one of the largest bass music line-ups comprising of Benny Page, Orifice Vulgatron, Killsonik, Bare Noize, Engine-Earz, Moniker, Vachan, Chinnappa to ever hit India.

On the 29th of December, Dance Ganesh comprising of Whosane! and DJ Asad, will have attendees swaying to electro beats fused with ancient Shlokas and Chants. The specially crafted Psychedelic Trance Set will be a tribute to one of the pillars that dance music in India has been built on.

Landing on the shores of Goa between Christmas and New Year, and joining already confirmed international stars such as Above & Beyond, Albin Myers, Benny Benassi, Booka Shade, BT, EduImbernon, Felix Cartal, Ferry Corsten (3 hour ‘Spotlight Set’), Julian Jordan, Norman Doray, and Yousef will be the likes of Hard Rock Sofa, Funkagenda, Sander Kleinenberg, Tristan and many more! Curating their own stages will be Prash from Engine-Earz Experiment (Bass Stage) and Vachan Chinnappa’s ‘Alternative Stage’ set to showcase the very best home grown talent India has to offer. Soundtrot has partnered with Vh1 Supersonic to simplify the overall experience for a festival-goer by developing a whole new payment system called "Go Dutch" comprising of last minute value for money travel and accommodation deals and festival tickets solution amalgamated in fully customizable packages. Under this single traveller friendly arrangement, post the festival, the attendees can hop onto any late night bus travelling to Mumbai and Pune to the take them home, in time for New Years. Additionally attendees can book their rooms through Twitter, by simply tweeting with the #TweetaRoom.

Vh1 Supersonic has two of its biggest stages, designed by renowned artist Sameer Kulavoor (Bombay Duck Designs). First up, this year’s main stage will be a larger than life submarine, set to a backdrop of underwater marine life! Combining acid pop art with sheer creativity, expect to be blown for six come December 26. The second stage, named ‘The Supersonic Laboratory’ will feature UV-ready graffiti and graphic art designs from local Indian talent, set against the beautiful Goan backdrop of coconut palm-studded beaches.
