UK’s finest Desi vocalist on Universal Music Compilation

Universal Music has released a compilation called Now That’s What I Call Desi, front lead by Jaz Dhami’s new single called Zulfa, which was released in December 2013 and is a massive hit. Jaz Dhami is not new to Chandigarh and Delhi audiences with his most famous song High Heels feat. Honey Singh being a chart topper.Currently, Zulfa is on high rotation on both television and radio and made its debut at #7 on the Nokia Charts. It also has 9 lakh plus YouTube views.

Jaz Dhami is the man who brought you the SMASH HIT OF 2012 - HIGH HEELS. Award winning Jaz Dhami made his singing debut on Aman Hayers Groundshaker 2 album with Jind Jaan back in 2008. He then went on to release his debut album JD, which garnered the young singer recognition and success. Since then there's been no looking back for the highly skilled vocalist.Trained in Indian classical, armed with a Music Technology degree and specialized tutoring from Bollywood singer Jayshree Shivram - no wonder Jaz Dhami has produced such versatile tracks.

His track Theke - Wali became one of the biggest dance floor songs of 2009 - regarded as the Bhangra anthem of that summer. He gained adoration with songs like Tera Mera and Bari Der for daring to step out of an era of generic desi music.And it didn’t stop there. Jaz Dhami continued to break boundaries – performing to two hundred thousand people at the biggest Sikh procession in the western world in Vancouver, Canada.

In the summer of 2012 Jaz Dhami took centre stage at Europe’s biggest outdoor mela in London to perform alongside one of the World’s greatest Orchestras – the Philharmonia. Jaz closed the 10 year anniversary celebration with a seventy one piece Orchestra who are renowned for performing with musical greats at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall – a first for a British Asian artist. The BBC’s Bobby Friction describing it as a “GAMECHANGING moment.”

There have been many more first’s for Jaz Dhami. Jaz became the UK’s first artist to break into India’s most watched and trending videos list of the year, with the craze he created in late 2012 HIGH HEELS. The first single from the second album, the addictive beats, catchy trumpets and a collaboration with the world’s most popular desi rapper, Yo Yo Honey Singh.

Jaz won Most Popular Song of 2012 at the PTC Awards in Punjab. Once again, Jaz Dhami raised the bar amongst peers and fans alike. In April 2013 Jaz pushed creative boundaries, as only he knows how – Meh Punjabi Boli Ahwas released – poles apart from High Heels, a track showcasing the most powerful vocal performance of Jaz’s career. He showed audiences his versatility not only as a singer but also in the kind of song he can deliver. A song dedicated to the Punjabi language in a unique but entertaining style. The singer has encapsulated the emotions to perfection, with appreciation from cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
