U2 bags the award for Best Original Song at Golden Globe.

Irish rock band U2 bagged the award for Best Orginal Song at the 71st Golden Globe awards. The band's latest track Ordinary Love from the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom' beat out competition from Coldplay's Atlas'(Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Taylor Swift's Sweeter Than Fiction (One Chance), Justin Timberlake's Please Mr. Kennedy (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Let It Go (Frozen).

Each of the band's four members took turns on the mic. U2 guitarist Edge said, “We we have been working for President Mandela, since the '70s. Since we were teenagers.”

Frontman Bono said, “This really is personal, very very personal. This man turned our life upside down, right side up. A man who refused to hate but he thought love would do a better job. We wrote a love song because it's kind of what's extraordinary about the film. It's a dysfunctional love story.” The band also thanked their present manager Guy Oseary, producer Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse) and Coldplay's Chris Martin, who helped work out the song.

The band, has previously won the same award once before for their track The Hands That Built America from the Martin Scorsese 2013 film Gangs of New York.
