Wolfmother create hysteria at HRC, Mumbai

Grammy award winning Aussie rock band Wolfmother made their debut performance in Mumbai last night at Hard Rock Café, much to the joy of their fans who had gathered hours before the concert could begin. The trio who have often been compared to Led Zeppelin, for their 70s sound the trio namely frontman Andrew Stockdale, drummer Vin Steele and bassist – keyboardist Ian Peres were in their element and gave fans a night to remember.

Their first gig in India was an amazing ride where they played their hit songs and an upcoming single Heavy weight amid numerous other tracks from their two albums Wolfmother (2005) and Cosmic Egg (2009). Stockdale who is the lead singer was happy to see the nightclub packed to the hilt. The band that has been in the limelight since they came on the scene about 10 years ago, have a new album due for release in the months to come. The same guitar riffs, keyboard mastery and ace vocals that were on show at the concert, are part of their new album that also includes “some poetry” stated Stockdale.

The band also played Woman, White Unicorn, Dimension and New Moon Rising. For those who did not know, their music has also been featured in films like Shrek The Third, The Hangover and Twilight.

They ended the night on a high note when the crowd exploded to their most popular song Joker and Thief. They performed back to back songs for almost an hour and a half and left their fans hungry for more. This band is surely coming back to India very soon.

After their gig in Mumbai, the band head off to theHard Rock Cafe in Delhi on Friday, March 7, before jetting off to BITS-Pilani Hyderabad, where they will headline the college’s cultural festival Pearl, on Saturday, March 8.
