As you may know, the 2014 MTV Movie Awards are just around the corner, taking place on April 13th at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater. The show is a global event - broadcast in over 160 countries via MTV’s more than 60 channels.
In the lead up to this year’s show, an informal MTV poll determined what kind of cinema snacks audiences around the world enjoy at the movies.
According to the poll, popcorn is the ultimate, universally loved companion to a good movie…but in some places, it’s offered in more flavors than simply salted or buttery:
- South Africans love to mix Cadbury’s Tumbles with salted popcorn
- Tom Yum flavor is popular in Thailand
- Audiences in Japan get to choose from strawberry milk, seaweed, butter and soy sauce, and royal milk tea flavors, among others.
