Folk-rock band Swarathma release a new music video for ‘Raah-e-Fakira’, the title track of their forthcoming album

One of India’s favourite folk-rock bands, Swarathma return with a brand new music video for the title track of their forthcoming album, ‘Raah-e-Fakira’. The video, produced by Red Bull Media House, tells the story of a young boy who has dreams of flying, but instead finds his superpowers through the ancient Indian human pyramid sport of Dahi Handi.

Shot in Mumbai in collaboration with a Dahi Handi ‘mandal’, the video charmingly captures the dreams of the young boy and the subsequent sense of inner peace that comes with finding your purpose in life.

Swarathma are gearing up to release their third full-length album, ‘Raah-e-Fakira’, later this month. Coming six years after their last release, Topiwalleh, the album blends a contemporary sound with the earthiness that the band is known for.

The album consists of eight songs, including one featuring Amit Kilam of Indian Ocean, titled Sangat ki Rangat. Having produced their debut, self-titled album in 2009, Kilam shares a special bond with the band, with this being their first collaboration on a track.

In addition to the album itself, the band has also collaborated with Kolkata-based artist collective Ghost Animation to create a graphic novel inspired by the album. Eight pages long, the novel will interpret the songs as stories.

The band will take the new album to cities across the country this month.
