Sofitel Mumbai BKC to mark the Solstice with Fete De la Musique

The world is all set to celebrate World Music Day on 21st June 2014. One of the many events being organised to celebrate the day, is the Sofitel Hotel in Mumbai who has lined up an array of musically delectable specials for the music lover.

The Sofitel (the only French luxury hotel brand) Mumbai, BKC, organizes an event to mark the longest day of the year. Welcoming the glory of the brightest star, the hotel will host a day of complete symphony with Fete De la Musique. Coupling gastronomy with the sound of music, the festival is celebrated across every Sofitel hotel around the globe. In Mumbai, Paris, Washington, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Vietnam, the 120 Hotels will witness the grand celebration combining French and the local culture of the region.

Says, Mr. Biswajit Chakraborthy, General Manager, Sofitel Mumbai BKC, “Launched in France back in the summer of 1982 the festival was created to mark the rise of Mercury. Being a French brand of international hotels, Sofitel takes pride in amalgamating this cultural event. Encouraging both amateur and professional musicians to showcase their talents, the day has crossed the milestone and has become a moment of expression. Unbounded by age, gender or creed, the carnival brings everyone in a musical melting pot.”

This year in Mumbai the festival will be celebrated at all its Food and Beverage outlets​- Artisan, Jyran, Tuskers and Pondichéry Café. Traditional, modern and contemporary instruments placed around the hotel will set the ambience and décor for the day.

Where the westerners can show off their moves to the live clarinets and trumpets playing at the Artisan along with a special range of pastries, cakes and tapas the traditional lovers can hop to the Tuskers to tap away to Rajasthani folk songs with a ​ special thali for lunch and dinner starting from Rs. ​1300. If you would like to indulge in some northern influenced cuisine visit the Jyran to relish an exquisite Awadhi spread paired with a delightful jugalbandhi starting Rs 3000 onwards. An opus of Hollywood retro music will accompany the Lunch and Dinner Buffet at the Pondichéry Café starting from Rs 2300 onwards.

To set the mood for their guests to tap away, Sofitel Mumbai BKC has organized talented percussionists- Anand Vaity, James Miranda, Reuel Benedict and Dilip Bhatt who will perform Indo-fusion music that would comprise of Hindustani Classical, Rock and Blues.

So get set to tap, sing and dance away your blues this Saturday, 21st June 2014 at the Sofitel Mumbai BKC.
