“I always wanted to become a drummer and not a singer” Divya Kumar

One of Bollywood’s most loved playback singers Divya Kumar recently visited the Hungama office recently for a meet-and-greet session called ‘Hungama Spotlight’. Divya Kumar sang his latest track Will you marry me from the upcoming movie ‘Bhoomi’ (releasing on 22nd September 2017) and also candidly shared that, he feels really lucky to lend his voice to the superstar Sanjay Dutt.

Divya Kumar the voice behind many popular tracks like Shubh Arrambh, Hawan Karenge sang his popular tracks for the audience, witnessing loud cheers for every song he sang. The soulful singer also shared his childhood experience, he said, "How I stared playing with sticks when I was just 2 years old and being born in a musical family always helps.” The versatile singer spoke about his love for Indian Classical music, and “how classical music needs a lot of patience, he always connects with Sufi and Folk music because there are no bounds while you sing”.

The multi-talented singer who has sung in so many different languages said “It is not very difficult to sing in regional languages, after I memorize the lyrics of the song, there is a tutor who corrects the pronunciation, once I completed a Tamil song in just 45 minutes”.

Divya Kumar explained the importance of digital platforms in today’s world and how it keeps you connected to your fans around. At the end of the session he gave message to his fans saying he will be soon coming up with his indie track, and didn’t reveal many details, as he believes that it kills the eagerness of the fans.
