HITS 2013 – Various Artists – (Sony Music) Rs. 399/-

We are three months to the close of yet another great year that produced some fabolous tracks, from hip hop to EDM, love songs to some great pop ditties by new artists and from a few who have given us music in the past year or so.

While you might be having most of the tracks on this compilation either on the artists full length album, or as a selection on your phone or laptop, here are the 17 most popular hits of the year compiled just for your mid year party. It’s a great selection from Sony Music and like with all of their products...they always seem to pick songs fromt the best of their catalogue.

We have NSYNC boyband singer Justin Timberlake with his super hit Mirrors, a happening love anthem with words that go "You are, you are, the love, of my life". The song speaks about someone you can't live without. This is followed by rapper and dance meister Pitbull featuring Christina Aguilera with the dance groove Feel this Moment. For those who did not know, the song base tune is a sampler of 80s band A Ha’s Take on me. Slow the pace down just a little with Just Give Me a Reason by P!nk feat. Nate Ruess. The track is a high on the must have list for its sappy chorus and catchy tune, very impressive, even though P!nk's raw, live vocals paired with Ruess' is a little hard on the ears. UK pop band One Direction cannot be missed out, given that the boys are now maturing into adults; little naughty lyrics cannot be omitted. Kiss You with its slight electro feel has a bit of shoddy lyrics like “…..If you don't wanna take it slow, and you just wanna take me home, say yeah and let me kiss you…” The fast-paced delivery of the lyrics and the fun element is the perfect party and fan song for their concerts.

Moving down ahead we have Everything at Once (Lenka), Gotye’s massive blockbuster Somebody That I Used To Know performed by Walk Off The Earth a five piece Canadian rock band. Check out this version compared to Gotye’s solo work. More hits tumble out as we go on with Ke$ha belting loudly her punchy Die young, 50 ways to say Goodbye (Train) and folk act Dido with the soft and sassy No Freedom, are the usual pop cuts here. We also have Olly Murs (see our Music feature this month) who brings with him his chart hit Troublemaker, so you can now actually sample his stuff before getting out there and getting his album. There’s also Calvin Harris, Little Mix, Krewella and a few others.

A wide array of tracks, something for everyone, tune in and enjoy.
