Engelbert Live - (Times Music) - Rs. 499/-

Engelbert Humperdinck, the balladeer, the showman, gives a marvelous concert on this one off DVD titled ‘Engelbert Live’ at the Forum in Los Angeles. The almost packed arena was held spellbound by Engelbert’s true showmanship laced with humor that went down well with the gramophone playing old foggies, as well as the mobile phone generation present.

Based on the Broadway musical by Chris DArienzo has a plot which is set in 1987 and tells the story about a small town girl from Ohio, Sherrie (Julianne Hough) who comes to LA in search of her dreams. Getting robbed of her belongings just as she makes her way around, she bumps into Drew (Diego Bonita) who helps her find a job. Both are newcomers struggling to become rock stars, but the closest they can get is working in the hottest rock & roll club on the Hollywood promenade.

Leaving Home: The Life and Music of Indian Ocean – 2 Discs (EMI Virgin) Rs. 495/-

The Collectors edition of the DVD has 286 minutes of footage and illustrates a band that took the risks and survived. While the cinema version is 115 minutes long, the DVD is surely a ‘longer trip’, more than two and a half times and covers more detail than the abridged version of the cinema version.

Those who love the circus, this is a visual feast with unbelievable acrobatic stunts, outrageous costumes, good background score by the Beatles, all this, backed by a heavy display of Love, which is the basis of the story here. Anyone who saw Cirque Du Soleil’s tribute to the Beatles A Day in the Life perform Let it Be at the Grammys in 2008 would know how cinematic the show is. There is also an Elvis track included in this set that should get your feet tapping.
