Toby Maguire who played the role of Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s Spider – Man film trilogy has made way for newcomer Andrew Garfield who now sports the red and blue Spider-man suit and hood.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) becomes an orphan who lost his parents in a plane crash. He lives with his Aunt May (Sally Field) and Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen), and attends a local high school where he meets up and falls in love with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his scientist father, and begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance. He comes to know that his father worked with an organization called Oscorp which now boasts of some shady deals. Parker is all out to sneak in and get the truth.

Peter takes the help of Gwen who is an intern at Oscorp, and bumps into an old colleague of his father’s Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), a scientist who is trying to combine animal DNA with human DNA to be able to regenerate tissue. Peter has the missing piece that Connors has been looking for. Connors tries to befriend Peter, but fails. Connors has lost an arm, and wants to get it back, but is pressurized by his boss, Dr Ratha (Irrfan Khan), who wants results for a new serum that has just been developed.

Peter meanwhile stumbles upon a room full of mutated, radioactive spiders and gets bitten. He assumes a new identity…. Spider-Man. Connors on the other hand tests the serum and his arm is restored, but later on it turns him into a lizard. The fun begins between Spider-Man and the Lizard who intends to wage a war against New York City.
