It feels so good – Sonique (Single)

When DJ Sonique came on the scene with this track in the year 2000, it created a flutter in the Billboard charts. If you just heard the original version of her track, how about the remixes...

The moment I heard this song at a club in south Mumbai, I just had to have it on my deck. But it wasn’t easy getting it, though the DJ there said you could get it on cassette. Yes, that time we used to listen to cassettes, and CDs were just coming on in a big way. I really didn’t manage to get it, but fast forward to 2010, when a family friend bought me the vinyl disc from London. The LP immediately got its place on my turntable in minutes and I just enjoyed every moment of the remixes.

Around 10 years later, I heard that Sonique was visiting India for a private tour. I managed to get her Mumbai contact and found that she was playing at a club in Juhu and as per her itinerary she was doing a soundcheck early evening. I managed to meet her, interview her for a magazine and then she not only signed the LP jacket, but also played the song on the console for me. It was a moment I will never forget.

I love this song It Feels So Good that at every party it was a master blaster. The song also has a very sensual side to it. Upon its release in 2000, the song became a UK Top 10 hit on Billboard. The song really moves you in every way. A great mix of dance/house to please every club goer with a catchy tune too. Sonique vocals are nothing but angelic, to say the least. plus, the trippy beat is amazing.

On this LP, there are 3 versions, each one being different than the other. The original song clocks 3. 46, but the three versions here include ‘Can 7 Soulfood Club Mix’ that has a mix of "house", "electronica", "trance" or "freestyle". The use of all these elements bring out a perfect mix of dance music. The second version is the ‘Original Breakbeat Mix’ (6.02) the best version of this song that I have heard. A hard edged houser that verges on the borders of trance with a dash of progressive thrown in for good measure. Lastly the ‘En – Motion Remix’ the shortest at 5.52 has the bouncy beats again in a faster version.

Though a good dance song for the clubs, if you are into club music, you just have to get this vinyl. You will not be disappointed. I wasn't.
