Netherlands Jazz Quintet to perform in Mumbai

With the much loved Jazz Yatra now history since over decade, the sprinkling of jazz events in the city help to revive a genre that is slowly fading. Quintiz is a welcome concept to reintroduce Mumbai to the Jazz greats once again. This Saturday, go down memory lane as a talented bunch relives the magic of the early days as well as bringing modern jazz to the fore.

Quintizis a young Jazz/Jazz-Fusion quintet all the way from Maastricht, Netherlands. Formed in September 2016, they started off as a trio playing jazz standards at quite a few gigs across Maastricht. "Each performance promises to be honest, full of energy and will make you smile during and after" claim the band.  However the driving force behind the band is their passion for writing original music, which is the key to success in today's music world.

Together as a band, their sound is unique; their goal being to make jazz music that is not only harmonically and rhythmically challenging, but also appealing to the crowd, good enough to sell again and again. They believe in the future of Jazz which is as Miles Davis once said, "Jazz is the big brother of Revolution. Revolution follows it around."

Band leader Tizaan Alphonso, an Indian boy leading a European band in his first year at  Maastricht Conservatorium, Netherlands  where he stood first in Jazz Piano and Jazz Vocals...... is truly a great achievement. He is the composer and song writer of the band. Tizaan is also academically qualified and equipped with leadership qualities with a  BA (Hons.) in Business Management  from Wolverhampton University, London.  At the age of 19, (year 2013) he created and launched his own music album ‘Take a chance’ with his band Groove Gully, a pop-funk-jazz band. The album was marketed by Universal Music around the globe through  iTunes and Crescendo Music in India.

QuinTiz has already been invited to perform for many festivals in Netherlands starting this September when college re-opens.

The True School of Music Faculty Band plays first half of the show while QuinTiz that also features the supremely talented Zian Bhamgara features the second set. The band also tours Goa, Pune and Delhi this month. An advocate for jazz for many years, Tizaan accompanied by his band consisting of a few young cats, is sure to hold the audience captive.

Your support will go a long way to motivate and support this set of young talented musicians to carve their niche in India. This is a treat not to be missed by music lovers.

Follow QuinTiz on their Facebook page and like their pictures and enjoy their performances on YouTube as well.
