The Journey – The Very Best of Donna Summer (Universal Music) Rs. 395/-

The diva queen of the 80s returns with a collection of 19 best tracks from her career spanning over 20 years. If you have not got yourself a copy of the singer who gave disco a new name, get this compilation that borders on the sentimental and the disco era.

The chartbusters are the dancehall favourites like Love to love you baby, I feel love, She works hard for the money and This time I know its for real among many others. There are also other hit material like Could it be magic, Theme from the Deep, Mac Arthur Park, Bad Girls, and the Barbara Streisand duet No more tears (enough is enough).

For those who don’t know much about her, Donna Summer, the queen of disco whose career spanned four decades and earned her multiple number one hits and five Grammy awards, was born LaDonna Andre Gaines in 1948. She grew up in Boston and sang her first song in her church's gospel choir.

Her first hit came in 1975 with Love to Love You Baby and continued with Last Dance, Heaven Knows, On The Radio all songs that were the signature of the excess and glamor of the disco era. Throughout the years, she earned five Grammys, her latest came in 1997, when she took the prize for best dance recording for her single Carry On.

The perfect disco diva, as the original "Bad Girl", died after a long battle with cancer on 17th May 2012. She was 63.

Retro music lovers have a feast in store for them by playing this album that’s filled with nostalgic moments of a black queen of pop who still regales whenever she takes the mic.
