Hollywood Records and 20th Century Studios announce ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ (OST)

Hollywood Records and 20th Century Studios announce the 37-track Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ with music from GRAMMY®-winning composer Simon Franglen (Avatar: The Way of Water, The Magnificent Seven) and original song Dream As One featuring Miley Cyrus.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ features over three hours of original music that introduces major new themes, textures, and groundbreaking electronica to the Avatar musical universe.  The soundtrack will be available on vinyl starting 30th January, 2026.

Franglen reflected on the monumental effort behind creating the score, saying, “Looking back at the 1900 pages of score I wrote for Avatar: Fire and Ash, it has undoubtedly been the most challenging project I’ve ever worked on; I’m incredibly proud of this score. The sheer scale of this film has demanded everything from six-minute operatic epics to the creation of instruments for another planet.  Throughout it all runs is a strong thematic core. I’ve always believed in the power of music - and themes - to be the heartbeat of a film, and I hope that comes through when you listen.”

Franglen previously composed the celebrated score for James Cameron’s ’Avatar: The Way of Water’, for which he received a 2023 World Soundtrack Award. His score was praised for expanding the sonic world of Pandora with both epic scale and profound intimacy and was a global hit with the soundtrack album surpassing 750 million global streams.

With ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family. The film, which has a screenplay by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno, also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, David Thewlis, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Brendan Cowell, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Duane Evans, Jr., and Kate Winslet.

Franglen’s journey to film composition began in the recording studio, where he built a remarkable career working with legends including Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Toni Braxton and Quincy Jones and on landmark films including Titanic, Skyfall, Moulin Rouge and Se7en. His production of My Heart Will Go On earned him a Grammy Award and helped make Titanic one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time.

A pioneer in immersive and spatial audio, Franglen’s innovative work in 3D spatial environments across the world helped expand how audiences experience music and sound, exemplified by his collaboration with Pink Floyd. For the art space on the 126th floor of the Shanghai Tower, Franglen composed a three-dimensional symphonic suite inspired by the tower’s architecture and the city of Shanghai. The suite uses a complex audio system to allow listeners to walk around within the soundscape.

Franglen continues to bridge the worlds of popular and symphonic music, crafting scores defined by emotional depth, innovation, and a commitment to storytelling through sound.

The original song Dream As One, performed by Miley Cyrus with music & lyrics by Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson, and Simon Franglen, was previously released on 14th November.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ releases exclusively in theaters worldwide starting 19th December.
