NCPA Soulful Blues returns in 2026 as a two-day celebration of blues music that embodies the pulse of human experience, following three thrilling concerts in 2025 that had spectators on their feet. This version offers an engrossing voyage full of shivers, joy, and soulful connection with its distinctive blue notes, passionate storytelling, and emotionally powerful performances.

Day 1 - Shakura S’Aida

The festival begins with a performance by award-nominated blues singer Shakura S'Aida, grounded in sincerity, authenticity, and emotional expression. Canadian blues vocalist, songwriter, and actress Shakura S’Aida performs on the opening day of The NCPA Soulful Blues 2026. Known for her expressive vocal style and authentic storytelling, her music draws from blues, soul, and jazz traditions.

A recipient of the Maple Blues Award for Blues with a Feeling (Lifetime Achievement Award) in 2021, Shakura S’Aida has performed across multiple categories and is recognised for creating a strong emotional connection with audiences through her performances. Before establishing her solo career, she performed with jazz icons such as Jimmy Smith and Ruth Brown. She has been an active contributor to Toronto’s music community for over four decades as a singer-songwriter, bandleader, frontwoman, playwright, and producer.

Day 2 - Sugaray Rayford

A recipient of the Soul Blues Male Artiste of the Year award in 2019 and 2020, and the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award in 2020, Rayford is known for blending classic soul melodies with funk-influenced R&B grooves and traditional blues elements.

Having begun performing at a young age, Rayford’s musical foundation is rooted in gospel and soul, influences that continue to shape his sound. His live performances are marked by strong vocals and an engaging stage presence, offering audiences a participatory blues concert experience. He has several albums to his credit.
