Singer Tolou moves to her own rhythm in ‘Body’ music video from the debut album ‘Energy’

Following the release of her debut album ‘Energy’, Norwegian/Nigerian singer-songwriter Tolou unveils the vibrant music video for Body, a radiant visual that captures the album’s final chapter in motion.

Filmed in Lagos, Nigeria where Tolou’s Father is from, the video reflects the spirit of the track itself – joyful, sensual, and grounded in the confidence that comes from knowing exactly who you are.

Flowing between pop, soul, R&B, and Afro-influenced rhythms, Energy introduced Tolou as a borderless artist whose music moves through emotion, spirituality, and cultural identity.

“Returning to Nigeria was such a special moment for me. Being able to capture the energy of Detty December, when so many talented people are in town, made it even more powerful. With so much creativity on set, I also wanted to showcase other incredible artists like Bagetti and the dancer NK. The purpose of the video is really to reflect the energy of the “Body” record. It’s uplifting, it’s inspiring, which is how I always feel going back to Nigeria and that’s exactly the feeling I wanted to capture in this visual. I hope people feel that energy when they watch it.” says Tolou.

Written by Theron Thomas (Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and Doja Cat) and produced by Tricky Stewart (Rihanna and Beyoncé), Bodyoffers a playful, sensual interpretation inspired by Ne-Yo’s classic So Sick, transforming its emotional tension into something lighter and more liberated. The result is a track that feels effortless yet deeply intentional, closing the album with warmth and self-assurance.

Tolou is the perfect blend of sexy and sassy, with a tone in her voice that instantly mesmerizes you. The moment she sings, you’re pulled into her world.” says Tricky Stewart.

In many ways, Bodybrings the emotional journey of ‘Energy’ full circle. Across the album, Tolou moves through moments of uncertainty, desire, and reflection, tracing a path from searching outward to finding strength within.

By the time the final track arrives, that clarity has settled into something lighter. Like the project itself, Bodybecomes more than a song; it’s the sound of alignment, closing the story exactly where Tolou intended.

Born and raised in Tromsø above the Arctic Circle, Tolou exists at the intersection of two worlds. Where Arctic atmospheres meet African rhythm. Her sound fuses Nordic minimalism with the warmth, soul, and spiritual depth of her Nigerian heritage, forming what she calls Afro-Scandi Pop – a genre defined by contrast, confidence, and cultural harmony.

Classically trained in opera, jazz, and soul, Tolou grew up leading choirs and singing in church, foundations that continue to shape her expressive, spiritually grounded artistry. A pivotal early moment came when Wyclef Jean discovered her singing in church, leading to collaborations including music featured on Showtime’s The Chi. During the pandemic, Tolou became fully self-sufficient as an artist, refining her songwriting, production, and vocal engineering skills and stepping into her creative power with intention.

Beyond her music, Tolou has emerged as a multidimensional cultural presence. She has starred in the Norwegian drama series Saving the F Planet, collaborated with global brands including Hugo Boss, L’Oréal, and H&M, and performed at major festivals such as Øya Festival and her upcoming set at Lollapalooza India (January 24). With ENERGY, Tolou establishes herself as a confident, borderless artist rooted in purpose, identity, and spiritual intention.
