Druv Kent’s ‘Hindustan Meri Jaan’ raises a flag for unity

Hindustan Meri Jaan, the patriotic anthem released by Druv Kent  year ago has hit the ground well as it have crossed 5000,0000 hits and thousands of likes on YouTube. The song was released on 26th January, 2019, and in last 12 months, song has become a chart buster with being playlisted on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Amazon, Tidal, GoogleMusic and others. The song has been successfully listed in top 10 most patriotic Hindi song of all time.

In Hindustan Meri Jaan Druv blends contemporary western arrangements with Indian musical motifs and lyrically anchors the song around the country’s multi-faceted character, with the refrain “Rang tera bhi, Rang mera bhi” (you have your colors, I have mycolors; we all belong). The song is composed and sung by Druv Kent with lyrics by Hina Joshi, produced by Gaurav Godkhindi, and video shot by TED fellow Puneet Rakheja.

The video is shot by Druv’s longtime video collaborator, Puneet Rakheja. Puneet spent a year travelling around India filming various things large and small as vignettes of everyday India – the country and people we see in the fields, cities and villages. The resulting video is a joyful celebration of India, set to the rhythms of Hindustan Meri Jaan, allowing a visual palette to see just how wide the country’s people and colors are.

Kent, ex-Singapore based banker and son of the soil landed himself in music after finding his heart out there. Dhruv became a popular name with critically and pioneering acceptable English songs recorded in the UK, he was also repeatedly featured on BBC Radio 2. His successful music careers include Back Home, released in Nov 2018 with Glitter & Dynamite, Long When We’re Gone and Back Home cracked open the UK, Australia and international markets to a unique talent from India, Druv delivered two Hindi songs that took the Indian music scene by storm.

Druv’s UK producers for his prior tracks shaped the sounds of John Mayer, Ronan Keating, Radiohead and Oasis. Increasingly, Druv has built Indian rhythmic ideas and lyrical expression into his English music, subtly fusing musical worlds together.
