A zest to excel: Pratika Prabhune

You may know her as digital manager at Azadi Records, or as having worked at several gigs and music festivals across India.

Pratika Prabhune recently released her first ever solo release, a hip hop track called Burn. The song is her debut as a solo artist. Burn is produced by Calm (Seedhe Maut) and it’s one banger of a beat.

Infact due to the lockdown and being in quarantine for so long, she even has gone and made a music video at home. The official release of the song and video was on 9th April 2020.

The song is a politically inclined rap song and stems from a very innate irritation with the new system. While we're made to believe everything is hail and hearty, there are several realties that we are distracted from. Communism, fascism and more, all trying to take the front seat slowly. Prabhune is no newcomer to the music industry, for she has been playing bass guitar and vocals in a heavy metal band called Chronic Phobia. She is also into creating jingles,  has been featured on many songs, and has done dozens of covers and live gigs.

She grew up to pop, rock, metal and hip hop music, soaking in theday to day struggle coming from a middle class family in Bandra, Mumbai. Despite severe financial difficulties she and her brother Pritesh managed to make their way into the music and live entertainment industry working with some of the biggest artists and festivals across the world.

She was also featured in international heavymetal band Lamb of God’s 2014 documentary ‘As The Palaces Burn’ telling her storyof coming from a a place full of social and political turmoil. She later went on to do vocals in the same band (growls/screams/clean singing). Later she was also featured with popular Indian metal band Demonic Resurrection live, and on a record on a solo track called Kurma: The Tortoise’, from the band’s debut album ‘Dashavtar’. Pratika is the digital manager at Azadi Records, and is also Content Manager at India’s largest crowdfunded music festival Control, Alt, Delete. She has specialised for over 7 years in music marketing. Pratika has always been writing lyrics and draws inspiration from the people who speak to her. Her love for science fiction and nature takes her onward for ore things to come later this year.
