The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), brings an exciting line-up of performances to celebrate World Music Day this weekend. From Indian musical roots to Jazzified Broadway hits, this World Music Day, NCPA@home makes it worthwhile to spend the weekend with your family swaying to good chords and mellifluous voices.

Straddling Three Spheres: Working in Theatre, TV and film

Straight Talk by Stephen Daldry

Stephen Daldry is the storyteller and director behind acclaimed works such as The Crown, Billy Elliot, The Hours and The Reader, several of which have won or been nominated for the Academy, Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards among many others. In this straight talk, he tells us how you can stay true to your story when shifting from stage and musical to television to film.

Jazz Goes to Broadway

A range of stellar jazz musicians accompanied by a full-blown horn section will perform timeless Broadway hits from The Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more. Get ready for evergreen melodies, freshly arranged with swing, verve and many foot-tapping improvisations from the amazing talent on stage.

Javed Ali presenting Sufiana songs

This World Music Day experience the magic of Sufiana songs sung by versatile singer Javed Ali. These compositions will beautifully narrate the idea of love, longing and union with the beloved transcending the manmade boundaries of region, religion, caste and creed.
