PAV4N teams up with grime and dubstep producer Sukh Knight on new release, ‘Doom’

After two blistering tracks, rapper PAV4N’s third release is yet another crackling tune in the shape of a long-awaited collaboration withEast London grime and dubstep don, Sukh Knight. Friends for years but first-time collaborators, the joint effort Doom does not disappoint and released on 31st July on PAV4N’s recently-launched label 4NC¥.

After taking some time to digest recent global events, PAV4N (to be read as Pavan) has returned with an apt motif for our times. Doom which also features London-based singer Ishani is set to an incendiary 140 bpm grime beat, as the pair pays homage to their UK grime and dubstep roots and lyrically, PAV4N takes aim at global power structures and the systems which suppress us.

“Working with Sukh has been something I’ve wanted to do since I first heard his music, we’ve spoken much and become great friends over the years and it finally came together for this project,” says PAv4N, known to many as frontman of Foreign Beggars who disbanded after 17 years at the end of 2019.

Doom is one of two tracks, the other is 2020 FE DEAD that will also be available as a limited-edition deluxe vinyl 28th August onwards.

The stunning saffron and Prussian blue 12-inch vinyl comes packaged in striking artwork from Osom Studios and photography by award-winning Indian photographer Mitsun Soni.

In early 2020 and after 17 years with UK hip-hop group Foreign Beggars, PAV4N launched his solo project which he describes as “a living art piece thereality of forging a unique path in music, art and the life of a perpetual foreigner”. The singles Karma and Stas is introduced the world to his global take on conscious and subversive rap, which sees him reconnect with both his cultural and hip-hop roots.

This special release also marks the beginning of PAV4N’s new record label, 4NC¥  a new global platform and network, for underground musicians and visual artists. Dedicated to breaking records from new talent and seasoned artists alike, 4NC¥(@4ncurrency)focuses on the cross-pollination of Indian and international artists through collaborative projects.

Speaking of the label, which launched on 20th July, PAV4N says, “I want to create a global platform for incredible artists and connect scenes from around the world.”He adds, “With so much societal division and now heavy restrictions on travel, breaking these boundaries and subversion through unity is even more important now than ever before. My dream for 4NC¥ is to facilitate meaningful exchange so artists can break new ground with their careers on a global scale.”
