15th September, 2023Voctronica, the renowned all-vocal band, has joined forces with Merchant Records, a label owned by India's famed composer duo Salim-Sulaiman, to participate in an extraordinary musical project known as SoundChk.
This unique endeavour has brought together nine diverse bands, each showcasing their original songs in their distinctive styles, and Voctronica's contribution to the project is the vivacious and infectious track, Maujooda. Maujooda, is a fun and peppy track that promises to uplift spirits and bring a smile to listeners' faces. The song encapsulates Voctronica's signature a cappella charm while incorporating elements that make it a vibrant and foot-tapping experience.
Salim-Sulaiman, the maestros behind Merchant Records, expressed their excitement about the project, saying, "SoundChk is a testament to the rich musical tapestry of India, and we are thrilled to collaborate with such talented bands like Voctronica. For 10 years, Voctronica has been paving the way for the vocal music community in India and is popularly regarded as the country’s first-ever all-vocal orchestra. 2022 saw Voctronica break the internet with four of their videos crossing the million-views mark, and recently, they were the only Indian independent band to sell out not one but two back-to-back shows within just 20 minutes of the announcement at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai.
Aside from being one of the only Indian all-vocal ensembles to have their music released on a label, their impressive list of achievements also includes winning Silver for the country at Vocal Asia in 2019, being the only Indian act to perform at Moscow Spring A capella 2019 out of 195 all-vocal artists from around the world, and being featured on India’s Got Talent Season 10.
A song inspired by synthpop, disco and electronica, Maujooda is Indian acapella-beatboxing band Voctronica's latest quest in exploring the power of the human voice, through a track that invites listeners to embrace the now. True to their slogan "No instruments, No kidding", everything in the song has been made using nothing but their voices.
