For those who may not know, Pooja Mazoomdar is one of the few female bass players in India. She did her engineering in Biomedical from Mumbai. After working for 4 years she quit her job and made Music as a full time career from June 2016. Trained in Hindustani classical singing and the Harmonium from the age of 7, she was always inclined towards instruments more. She is a self taught guitar player. Her major influences have been Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Sting, RD Burman, KK, Lesle Lewis, Ram Sampath, Michael Jackson, Flea, Amit Trivedi, AR Rahman and many more.
She has played the bass live for renowned artists, as well as a session artist and has also given backing vocals for jingles and songs for music directors and producers like Ram Sampath, Lesle Lewis and Abhijeet Vaghani.
Recently she was a part of 'T-Series Mixtape Season 2', where she played bass for top Bollywood singers. She was a part of Mae Thomas's podcast interview and session 'Maed in India ' for women's day special episode with the all girl band Ladies Compartment and Friends.
Apart from bass, she also produces music on Ableton. She teaches acoustic guitar at her own venture called 6 String Academy. She tours extensively, performing with various Bollywood and independent artists. In addition to her live performances, Pooja composes and produces music under her creative banner, Sound Of MUZAK.
