14th August, 2025A versatile independent singer-songwriter and performing artist Kiran Holkar is thrilled to announce the release of her debut single Take Sweet, Talk Sweet, Be Sweet, on all major music streaming platforms also video produced and directed by Kiran.
Take Sweet, Talk Sweet, Be Sweet is a captivating combination of genres of Indian pop, pop, art pop, Indian fusion, and folk pop altogether the ultimate "I-POP". Inspired by the Indian tradition of sharing sweet treats to celebrate good news, this song is a sweet treat by Holkar, a debut single showcasing her unique ability to blend Indian sounds with western pop culture through artistic vision.
Holkar wrote the lyrics to the song Take Sweet Talk Sweet Be Sweet early this year. “The thought stemmed about "Sankranti" celebrations during my school days where we used to say "Take Sweet, Talk Sweet, Be Sweet" while we distributed sweets. In India if it's good news we always give sweet and break the news. That's what I thought for my debut song. The song explores the process of sugarcane cultivation, harvesting, and transformation into sugar, highlighting the farmer and his whole family's efforts yet the peace they find in their zen. I have specially added the ghungroo sound of those "Thella" making, sugarcane juice on the road side. Basically, it's a "Gode Ras" as in 'sweet juice' it sounds sassy but that's what it is”.
She brings a distinctive perspective through her music, seamlessly blending the richness of Indian cultural heritage with Western pop culture influence, creating a refreshing fusion that sets her apart as a trailblazing voice, opening gates globally and resonating with her growing fan base worldwide. Idolizing pop artist worldwide Holkar is aiming to elevate Indian pop to international acclaim. The video of Take Sweet, Talk Sweet, Be Sweet is proof of it.
Her exposure to the performing arts from a very young age got her interested in music, dance, and the arts. “I’m inspired by artists who multitask like Kishore Kumar. From Michael Jackson to Shakira, every pop artist has an influence on me some way or the other. Not just music but movies too, have shaped my artistry”.
Music was ingrained in her family states Holkar as she proudly says, “My family's artistic and athletic background has influenced me greatly. My grandmother is a lyricist and singer-composer, and my family often organizes music and dance events in my hometown. We create themed shows. Growing up I almost nailed all my annual gatherings, and worked as a choreographer too so being on stage is always like a porch to me”.
Holkar has studied Business Administration specializing in International Business and also creative writing in English. As for getting into the cultural strata, she started from a very young age of 4 in dance and recently completed her Visharad in Kathak dance form. She is also trained in Indian classical music and Western music.
Her artistic journey has been shaped by esteemed mentors like Bappi and Bappa Lahiri, Atul Churamani and Sandip Soparrkar to name a few.
Expanding her creative horizons, Holkar has also ventured into music journalism, writing and interviewing music artists for music website Musicunplugged, further fueling her passion for music which establishes her as a researcher and creative head always curious to dig more and flash the unknown.
Holkar is also gearing up for more singles later this year. "Pooja Party" will be out this festive season, and "Blue Velvet Dress" might hopefully drop by the end of the year. I’m currently focusing on singles only”.
There’s no stopping Holkar from achieving what she wants. She states, “I'd love to be recognized globally for blending Indian cultural heritage with pop culture western compliance. I'm envisioning international tours with a massive team and production showcasing Indo western colours and sounds”.
As a millennial, Holkar has learned to adapt and make the best of situations while living away from her hometown in Sangli, in Maharashtra. “I don't really focus on likes or dislikes; instead, I try to make things work my way. Living in Mumbai is challenging, but having the right contacts and knowing how to utilize them is key. It's not that different from my hometown though” she signs off.
