Raageet by Priyani Vani Panditt: A melodic bridge between Tradition and Popular Culture

In a world where the lines between classical purity and commercial appeal often seem irreconcilable, Raageet — a unique musical vision by singer and composer Priyani Vani Panditt offers a refreshing bridge.

With roots in Indian classical music and a flair for Hindi film melodies, Priyani’s creation is not just a concert series; it’s an evolving musical dialogue between heritage and innovation.

Born in the quiet town of Jobat in Madhya Pradesh, Priyani Vani Panditt’s musical voyage began at the tender age of 8. With early training under the guidance of her father, Shri Lavesh Vani, she quickly developed a deep-seated devotion to Indian music. Her academic pursuit of this passion led her to earn both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Indian Music from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore.

Her learning continued under the tutelage of several renowned mentors, including Smt. Bharti Soni, Shri Purbayan Chatterjee, Shri Gautam Mukherjee, Smt. Suvarna Wad, and Ustad Murtaza Khan Sahab, among others. Though not confined to any particular gharana, her style is marked by a rich confluence of discipline, imagination, and versatility.

With Raageet, Priyani Vani Panditt has pioneered a format that fuses the structured elegance of classical ragas with the emotional accessibility of film music. Priyani shares, “I wanted to create something that speaks to both the trained ear and the casual listener.Raageet is my tribute to the timeless soul of Indian music, in all its forms.”

Each performance under the Raageet is carefully curated to resonate with audiences across generations, blending intricate ragas with familiar melodies, and bridging genres without compromising on depth.

A seasoned playback singer, Priyani has lent her voice to several Bollywood tracks, bringing her expressive vocal range to mainstream cinema. Her movie songs include Ha Har Ghadi  (Thank You), Dil Ye Bekarar (Players), Good Night (Ferrari Ki Sawari), Punjabi Munde  (Ghudchadi) and Like a Phoenix (Hindi Vindi). Her independent songs, such as Maahiya, Ab Tak Na Maine, Mohan Bin Radha, and Papa Tum Meri, further showcase her ability to craft emotive, genre-defying music that connects across audiences.

Priyani’s contributions to music have been recognized both in India and abroad. A Government of India scholarship holder in Indian Classical Music, she has performed at prestigious festivals and cultural gatherings, includingMandi Mahotsav and Bhauramdev Mahotsav in Chhattisgarh, SAARC Sammelan, Bihar Diwas, Asian Cultural Festival and many more. Her voice has also resonated across the United States, with standout performances for Bengali and Gujarati associations in New York, New Jersey, and beyond—each concert a celebration of India’s sonic diversity.

In an age of fast beats and fleeting fame, Priyani Vani Panditt’s work reminds us that music can still be meditative, meaningful, and moving. Whether through the emotive purity of a raag or the heartfelt lyrics of a film song, her voice continues to inspire, evoke, and connect. Through Raageet, she is not just singing—she is telling India’s musical story to the world.
