Indian-born, Singapore/UK-based singer-songwriter Druv Kent released his new single, Beyond It All (Sayi) last weekend. Known for his unique folk-pop-rock blend of lyrically resonant and anthemic English songs and his Earthy, 𝘚𝘶𝘧𝘪-infused Hindi songs, this latest release marks Kent’s move into a genuine fusion of his musical worlds of East and West, with atmospheric production, contemplative lyrics, and a deeply human vocal performance. 

The song reflects on loss, resilience, and the alluring, enduring light that exists beyond absence. Beyond It All (Sayi) is a reflective, pulsating, and soaring exploration of what lies beyond certainty, with a hopeful, searching Western melody breaking into the soothing, chanting refrains of an ancient Punjabi folk song, re-written by Kent’s mother to fit the song, that rises melodically with each repetition until finally returning to its core, the circle at the centre of it all.

Produced by Kent’s long-time UK-based collaborator Calum MacColl (Ronan Keating), along with Kent himself, the song was recorded in the UK and Singapore, with additional vocals from a variety of notable singers in India, including Siddhanth Bhatia, Jagdish Jaipuri, Shivangani Yeashu Maharaj, Saubhagya Prasad, and Kent’s mother, Bina Shrikent, adding weight to the layered choruses. 

Recording 5 mini-albums across English and Hindi, Kent, a former banker-turned full-time musician a decade ago, has won music awards for both songwriting and live performance, with the Druv Kent Band.

His 2015 debut made him the 1st Asia-based independent artist supported in 20 years by BBC Radio 2. He’s had songs top the World Indie Music Charts, the Euro Indie Music Charts, been on the US Top 20, and licensed his music to various video streaming services. Some of his biggest songs include Hope, Glitter & Dynamite, Little Bit of God, I’m Still Riding, Higher Ground, Don’t Burn Away, and Hindustan Meri Jaan.

The track Beyond It All (Sayi) also has an extended, more-Indianised remix being released in parallel as a bonus track, titled Beyond It All (Sayi) (Desi Mix). Kent has three forthcoming additional songs for his ‘Indian Spirit’ EP to be fully released.
