From the Dance floor to the Heart: Singer Siddhartha Singh returns with ‘Mai Tera Hi Hu’

It's been barely a month since Siddhartha stepped into Punjabi pop with the uptempo, dance floor-ready Kudi Chadd Gi a track he himself called a nice change of pace. True to form, he's already moved on to somewhere entirely different. His new single, Mai Tera Hi Hu, trades the pulsating knock of a hip-hop groove for something quieter, more intimate: a soulful, bilingual ballad, largely in Hindi with English threaded through it, built for the kind of emotion that hits you straight in the heart and stays in it.

If there's one thing that's become clear across Siddhartha's catalogue — the jazz-tinged hush of Winter is Here, the clean English pop of You, much loved and evergreen Tu Hoja Meri Jaana, the acoustic ache of Teri Yaad Aayi Hai and Karde Haseen, the celebratory swagger of Dil Da Gangster Kudi Chadd Gi — it's that he refuses to be pinned to one lane. Mein Tera Hi Hoon fits right into that pattern. It's a return to the soulful, acoustic sound his earlier work is known for, but stretched across two languages at once, which is new for him.

According to Siddhartha, the song came together almost by accident. He was on his way home one evening, when the melody simply arrived. He didn't write anything down or plan it out — he just held onto the feeling in his body until he got home, picked up his guitar, and let the idea take shape right there by letting it all out. The singer also mentions that how this creative process is an act of releasing strong emotions for him.

It's the kind of unplanned, in-the-moment start that seems to run through a lot of his music, and it shows in how natural the shift between Hindi and English feels across the track — less a stylistic choice than an emotion finding whichever language fits the moment.

With Mai Tera Hi Hu Siddhartha isn't just adding a thirteenth song to his catalogue — he's adding another language, another mood, another reason to believe he might be one of the most versatile multi-genre artists working in India right now. Between the Jazz, the English pop, the Punjabi energy of Kudi Chadd Gi, and now this soulful Hindi-English ballad, it would not be wrong to say that Siddhartha Singh has quietly built one of the most genre-spanning catalogues in the country full of memorable songs.

The Singer dedicates Mai Tera Hi Hu to the growing community of listeners who've supported him through this journey. Their love, he says, is what keeps him writing.

Mai Tera Hi Hu is out now on all major streaming platforms.
