Pune based B.Tech Graduate singer-songwriter Swapnil Kumar is an Electronics & Telecomm Engineer by education, but a thorough musician by profession. His music has never been just a passion, it has been a lifelong calling.

Born into a musical family, Swapnil’s journey began at the age of eight when he stepped onto a stage to sing with a live band for the very first time. That early spark set off a relentless musical pursuit that has now evolved into a compelling discography of original releases.

His music is rooted in emotionally driven soft-rock and indie-pop ballads, seamlessly integrating touches of country music and Bollywood influences. With this unique sonic signature, Swapnil aims to create songs that resonate deeply with genuine human experiences and emotions.

Swapnil’s foundational years took shape during college, where he became an integral part of the institution’s MIT AOE Art Circle, Pune and theatre group music department. Representing his college in Firodia drama competition as a lead vocalist for three consecutive years, he fronted a college band, headlined campus festivals, and earned multiple competition wins.

Beyond performing, it was during quiet moments in college canteens and empty classrooms that Swapnil discovered his passion for songwriting. Holding a guitar in his room, he composed his first original tune, capturing the raw, innocent experiences of youth—crushes, hesitation, campus nostalgia, and the unfiltered emotions of growing up.

In 2022, Swapnil made his official professional debut with the single Khamosh Ankhein a soulful acoustic-pop ode to the conversations that happen without words, just at a glance. Wrapped in soothing melodies and an intimate acoustic-pop arrangement, Khamosh Aankhein explores one of love’s most beautiful paradoxes, the emotions that can be expressed without ever being spoken.

He says, “The romantic single is inspired by my long time school crush. The song introduces my storytelling depicting the first crush and beautiful gestures that were noticeable about that girl. I have released the song under the Red Ribbon Musik label.”

The song, says Swapnil, captures those fleeting moments when a glance becomes a conversation, a silence becomes a confession, and two people understand something about each other without saying a single word. “Rather than portraying love through grand declarations, Khamosh Aankhein finds its emotional core in the subtlety of human connection. At the heart of the song is the idea that sometimes the quietest moments can carry the deepest emotions. A shared gaze, an unspoken feeling, or a moment of comfortable silence can communicate what words struggle to express”.

Musically, the song embraces a soothing acoustic-pop palette, allowing the melody and emotion to remain at the forefront. Its gentle arrangement complements the intimate nature of the lyrics, creating a soundscape that feels warm, personal and sincere.

Swapnil’s next release was Anjani Si Ladki, a delicate portrayal of that magical moment when one first lays eyes on a stranger, and something within them shifts. The song, set against a warm acoustic pop arrangement, eloquently captures the silent emotions and spontaneous heartbeats that arise from a chance encounter.

“The song is a delicate portrayal of that fleeting yet unforgettable moment when you first lay eyes on a stranger, and something shifts within you”, says Swapnil.

Musically the arrangement of the song revolves around an acoustic pop genre capturing the innocence of adoring somebody and letting her know indirectly in the form of song. “It is a silent effort to make someone realise their impact. As per the genre, acoustic instruments have been arranged to capture the simplicity of the emotion making it easy listening to people giving a soothing romantic vibe”.

Swapnil’s third release Bekeraar serves as a companion to those who have ever experienced the curiosity which happens while two strangers begin to talk and chat for a long time and after a certain point they decided to meet in person. “So Bekeraar resonates with the feeling of curiosity, nervousness and excitement before the first meet - up with that person”, says Swapnil, joyfully.

Critics and early listeners are already raving about the upcoming release, praising the track for its captivating melody and deeply resonant narrative. The buzz surrounding Bekaraar underscores its potential to strike a chord with audiences seeking authentic and emotive musical experiences.

Musically it revolves around a country pop style of sound giving a happy vibe to the overall track. Also it depicts stages of meeting a special person, so the acoustic guitar is prominent throughout the song as strumming and few layers of harmony and leads. To add a spark Swapnil has introduced harmonica to give a different flavour of excitement followed up with light percussions.

His fourth single Safar promises to be a soulful exploration of life's transitions, combining Kumar's indie-acoustic vibe with the storytelling depth of a contemporary Indie- Pop. In a musical landscape dominated by moderate-tempo drums, Safar encourages listeners to take a moment to slow down, making it the perfect soundtrack for both the literal and metaphorical voyages of life. The song is a beautiful conversation with nature after feeling broken with the hustle of life.

Reflecting on his upcoming single, Kumar shared, "In an era of high-tempo electronic music, 'Safar' invites listeners to slow down. As they Say, Don't follow trends; better make one."

Safar captures the instrumentation which made you feel the vibe of mountains riding or driving in the mountains finding peace from a regular chaos of our day to day life. So the main prominent instruments are acoustic guitar, urhu, flute, ghatam muted guitars and beautiful ambient pads.

Since his debut, Swapnil has released four original tracks, each reflecting everyday scenarios, heartfelt emotions, and relatable life chapters. As an independent artist, he continues to write, compose, and release music that resonates with listeners looking for authentic, emotionally driven songs.
