For singer, songwriter and music producer Tuset Dwiz, love can be comforting, addictive and, at times, destructive. His album, ‘Ishq Rog’, released today explores these contradictions through nine tracks that trace the journey from attraction and intimacy to heartbreak, emotional dependency and self discovery.
Blending contemporary pop, R&B and Indian melodic influences, the album features Ishq Tera, Iqraar, Deewana, Dilruba, Khudgarzi, October, Sapna, Dosti and an extended version of Iqraar. Drawing from personal experiences, Dwiz explores how love, which initially feels comforting and healing, can gradually turn into an obsession that becomes difficult to escape.
“Ishq Rog is inspired by the different stages of love and how deeply it can transform us. From falling in love and losing yourself in someone to the fear of losing them and the pain of heartbreak, I wanted listeners to experience these emotions through my music and find parts of their own stories in it,” shares Dwiz.
The album holds particular significance for the artist, who began working on it following an encouraging audience response at Vishal Dadlani’s trial show. Inspired to create his own repertoire of original music, he revisited an archive of nearly 3,000 recordings accumulated over a decade. During this period, the loss of someone close to him left him questioning his relationship with music. Determined to move forward, he challenged himself to complete an album in just 45 days.
Throughout the challenge, Dwiz documented his creative journey on social media, building a community of listeners and fellow musicians who connected with his experiences. His daily updates also inspired other independent artists to share their journeys, while helping him develop discipline, overcome camera shyness and become more confident in his creative decisions. The process resulted in more than ten songs, eventually leading him to divide the project into two albums, Ishq Rog and its planned follow up, Ishq Marz.
During the final days of the challenge, Dwiz was selected among the top ten participants for the JBL Martin Garrix Music Academy. A track he created for the academy challenge gained significant traction online, with its accompanying video garnering 4.4 million views on social media.
Dwiz’s musical journey began in 2012 as a school choir vocalist, eventually leading him to explore rock music, learn guitar and perform with bands during his engineering years. A major turning point came in 2022 when his team won the Platinum Track of the Year award at the Indian Film Project’s 50 Hour Music Challenge. He subsequently moved to Mumbai, developing his production skills and gaining opportunities to work with industry professionals including Shantanu Hudlikar .
While his earlier music was largely influenced by rock, Ishq Rog represents a shift towards a more intimate, cinematic sound. Taking creative control of the album, Dwiz has explored his identity as both an artist and producer, collaborating with musicians including Shreya Dhavle, Mowktik Chakraborty, Gauri Singhal, Idhan, TG, Rusty Crap, Crispin and Nimai.
“I want my music to feel like an experience rather than just a song. Something people can see themselves in, feel deeply and return to at different stages of their lives. This album has helped me understand my identity as an artist and become more intentional about the stories I want to tell,” he adds.
With Ishq Rog, Dwiz hopes to connect with listeners through stories of love, vulnerability and emotional growth. He is also planning an album launch event and live performances featuring songs from the record, alongside unreleased material from his next project, Ishq Marz.
