Love? – Jennifer Lopez –(Universal Music) Rs. 399/-

Jennifer Lopes aka J Lo has left her old record label and moved on to the Island Def Jam Music Group. J Lo who has a list of personalities to her credit which include actress, entertainer, recording artist, film and TV producer, fashion designer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, has joined hands with a string of producers to bring out her seventh studio album full of pure pop, R & B, and dance grooves consisting of 12 tracks, while the deluxe edition (not available here) has 17 tracks. But who’s complaining, we have the best here.

The first song to catch your fancy would definitely be On the floor. Co produced and written by RedOne the track is heavily mixed with Ibiza beats and is a lift off from a sample of Los Kjarkas song Llorando Se Fue, which is popularly known as Kaoma's 1989 hit Lambada, played well to Lopez’s craze for dance fused songs. Music master rapper Pitbull gives his expertise on this summer track.

Another standout includes Papi which translates into ‘hot guy’ maybe slightly bland on the ears, but except for its chorus it manages to sustain the hit element. It’s a neat blend of R & B and Latino, spiked with heavy orchestration. Until It Beats No More is balladic material with the same going for Starting over displaying the softer songs of Lopez. Though her music is more up-tempo, Lopez strike at ballads works in her favor. ‘I’m into you’ feat. Lil Wayne is once again dance material laced with a great groove.

Broken hearted many a time, Lopez who has had a dozen hubbies in the past speaks about a few in her songs, but the heartache of the past is still a moment of thought for her. Searching for the true meaning of love, declarations of undying love and the hope of a lasting love, is the focus of this album’s content.(What Is) LOVE?’ is bent on what love is, moving down the path of people who are lonely and have no one. The lyrics add that touch of sadness to the song, with Lopez stirring vocals. Papisadly hasempty lyrics though its chorus is the only fragment that puts the song together. Run the World comes very close to being a filler with its lyrics telling you that you’ll always be there. Lopez strangely has just two songs to her credit on the lyrical front, that too co-writing Those who have followed the leggy singer will vouch that her vocals are the major of her album. On the floor by Pitbull is the perfect track for the opener on the album and shows Lopez magnificent vocals to her best.

Lil Wayne collab I'm Into You rap is cool summery stuff. But don’t miss the Rihaana styled "na-na-na" hook in the song. Gaga’s Invading My Mind is a filler, not the dance material Gaga fans love.Hypnotico another Gaga tune is filled with electro pop dance.

You may just have to skip two or three tracks on the album for ‘LOVE?’ is more solid in music with label mates Akon, Gaga, Taio Cruz scurrying around to help Lopez.

Rating: ****
