Modern Times – Bob Dylan (Sony BMG) Rs. 399/-

Robert Zimmerman, better known to the world as Bob Dylan, releases his first CD in five years and is also the artist 32nd album to date, featuring ten brand new songs. Accompanied by his touring band, Dylan swings from keyboards, guitars, harmonica and vocals, making this album somewhat a throwback to his founding years in the 70s.

The gravel voiced star known for mumbling his words, has made an album about the changing times since his last record released on September 11, 2001. That aside, the album speaks about some of Dylan’s most direct love lyrics, vindictive vendettas, meditations on morality, pointed political commentary, dry wit, apocalyptic imagery and head scratching flights of fancy.

Going to the tracks on the album we have The Leeve’s gonna break where Dylan talks about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, takes on a few love words in Spirit in the Water and Someday Baby. Ain’t talkin’ is a haunting ballad of death, regrets and revenge, almost nine minutes long. Beyond the horizon takes on the murderous attack of 9/11, that shows that Dylan who produced the album under the pseudonym Jack Frost, has littered the album on world themes. The 65-year-old legend brings a serious album for the world today.

This album was released in August 2006 and you bet like all his other albums, this is one to add to your Dylan collection. Check it out the American – singer – songwriter’s album for he never disappoints.
