15th July, 2025After a hiatus of 13 years from Queen’s last studio album in 1995, comes brand new material by Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Paul Rodgers in dedication to legendary front man Freddie Mercury.
The album shows that the original band mates May and Taylor still feel his presence strongly more so on the album that is filled with influences of the man who they called Fred. The old trademarks are there, guitar riffs and loud vocals backed by excellent drumming, but the magic of Mercury which was omnipotent in Queen is missing. Fans will still tune into this 14 track capsule which is written by all the three with vocals headed by Rodgers.
Most of the songs here are slow to slightly up-tempo. The toppers here include Time to Shine, the very meaningful slow ballad Small, Some things that Glitter and Through the Night, while a Beatles touch comes in Call Me followed by the well produced catchy C – lebrity that talks about the dream to be a celebrity and appear on TV.
Don’t miss out on the heavy Warboys for its cool guitar riffs and drumming will surely knock you off and is a rockers delight for sure. Also Surf’s up…..school’s out is energetic and pulsating at the very first listen. The song speaks of following your dream after finishing school.
Queen has made a comeback and what a way they’ve done it. Tune in for a great album that is sure to rock you and make you asking for more. Includes lyrics to all songs.
