Ronit Sarkar aka Rono new album ‘Adhoore Se Khwaab’

Seasoned singer-songwriter Ronit Sarkar aka Rono released his second full length album ‘Adhoore Se Khwaab’ on 30th April. Produced by Rono and Satyajit Chatterji, Adhoore Se Khwaab is an entirely organic record; every instrument and part on the album was recorded live, with zero digital sources. Nylon string Guitar, Piano and analog Synthesizers combine with Dotara, Mandolin, Harmonium, Dafli and Ghungroos to create a rich and haunting soundscape that is both deeply rooted in Indian tones and true to Rono’s sonic identity.

The album opens with Tere Bin which talks about the void people leave behind and life after, and ends with Bas Hawaaein which is about how death puts every other kind of loss into sharp perspective. This last track is a heartfelt tribute to Rono’s late father and also features his mother’s voice. Another prominent track is Mehfooz Rakh, an iconic collab with Swanand Kirkire, one of the country’s most respected writers and singers.

Available on all streaming platforms, this 9 track bare all compilation is his tribute to grief, loss and hope. Written in the aftermath of his father’s passing, this raw and deeply personal record explores the fragility of human relationships and the permanence of death.

Pouring his heart out on this melancholic journey, Rono says,“Putting an album together is a monumental undertaking for any artist, and this one for me, comes straight from the heart. This is for anyone who has tried their hardest to keep love alive while having to make hard choices, and felt the helplessness and despair of having those choices taken away. I hope this album helps people feel a little less lonely in their grief.”

Formerly known as Awkward Bong, Ronit Sarkar is a Mumbai-Based singer-songwriter who performs under the stage name of Rono and has been releasing music independently since 2015. His 2018 hit single Main Aur Tum has crossed over 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

Over the last ten years, Rono has two albums, two EP’s and eight singles to his credit. A multi-instrumentalist, he has played several stages and festivals around the country, including the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, the Vans New Wave Festival among others. Rono is a self-taught musician and has attended the RTX Project Artist Residency in Sri Lanka in 2016 and the International Writers Camp 2017 in the Netherlands. He has also been featured on several programs and online publications like Vh1 India's Music Diaries, Rolling Stone India and has also had his music synced to OTT content for Amazon Prime and Tinder.
