Elvis: The Great Performances (Import)

This is the best you could ever get to watching Elvis.

The ultimate DVD collection celebrating the life of Elvis Presley returns to the marketplace, after several years, boasting over 2 hours of remastered video, new packaging and never-before-seen interviews with legendary artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins along with others who were close to the beloved and undisputed King of Rock ‘n Roll.

The two-disc ‘Elvis: The Great Performances’ was released in August 2011, and brings together classic performances spanning more than 20 years, from his first televised appearance that shocked a nation to a concert a few weeks before his death on 16th August, 1977. Footage mined from TV shows and specials, films and home movies, capture Elvis’ mesmerizing stage presence and irresistible charisma as well as provide a revealing look into his private life and the realities of his unprecedented fame.

Not only does it include more than 30 performances of his greatest hits and other bonus features, but also the quality of it is superb. There's even an option to listen to it in 5.1 Audio, which I recommend you do, because it enhances the quality of his music even more.

Of particular interest to Elvis fans are the previously un-released bonus interviews, conducted by producer-director Andrew Solt in the early and mid-‘90s. Included are rock icons Lewis and Perkins, Sun Records head Sam Phillips, drummer D.J. Fontana, guitarist Scotty Moore, Jordanaires member and backing singer Gordon Stoker, and television host Milton Berle, on whose show Elvis appeared twice in 1956. The bonus material adds more than 30 minutes to the original two-hour production. Also, Jerry Schilling, long-time childhood friend of Elvis, was instrumental in producing and overseeing the set.

With this DVD, fans can not only experience the excitement surrounding Elvis but also understand his influence on music and popular culture, a legacy that is greater than ever today. This DVD also has some great TV appearances that many of us were not even born yet and shows his power over the audiences and how he became so big.

The historical content, the audio, and the video material are of the absolute highest quality. This documentary chronicles the man, the artist, the entertainer, his music, and his contributions, in a refreshingly accurate and respectful manner. It provides fast moving, educating, and very entertaining coverage on most of the essential public and private aspects of Elvis Aaron Presley. There was one and only, and this world will never know another, Elvis. May his memory forever shine brightly.

The only minus point I can think of is that the makers of this DVD sadly should've put the songs in the order of the year they came out instead their all mixed around, but overall a great Elvis DVD video. This is a must have for Elvis and rock n roll fans.

This is for all you Elvis Presley lovers. I recommend this 100%.
