Elton 60 - Live at Madison Square Garden (Double Disc) ((Import)

This is probably the best Elton John concert I've ever seen. And even though he performed in India in 2002 and I didn’t get a chance to attend the concert, this one absolutely takes the cake. The songs he performs span his career - and each done with the best precision. The band, the choir, and of course, Mr. Fantastic himself are on the top of their game in this tribute. I recommend this for any Elton John fan out there.

This then is Elton John's record-breaking 60th sellout performance at Madison Square Garden on his 60th birthday, recorded on 25th March, 2007 his birthday and televised worldwide is the setting for his latest hit DVD, ‘Elton 60: Live at Madison Square Garden’ with a special concert lasting three hours and 18 minutes on this two-DVD set, and featuring 33 songs.

The set list features classics like Your Song, Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer, Levon, as well as such favorites as Burn Down the Mission, Madman Across the Water, and Take Me to the Pilot, not forgetting the hits Rocket Man, I'm Still Standing, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting, Bernie and the Jets, Something about the way you look tonight, Don’t let the sun go down on me, The bitch is back  and lots more.

The concert is broken into two sections, with the first hour or so on the first DVD and the last couple on the second. The second half begins with happy birthday for Elton with the whole building sings along really kicking. This follows with a presentation of a banner marking the occasion by Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams with John's longtime lyric partner Bernie Taupin even making a rare stage appearance to pay tribute. That interlude aside, however, John is all business in this show, presenting a lengthy summary of his musical career. The DVD's extras give an even broader sense of that career, delving into the video archives for a couple of hours' worth of vintage performances dating back to the early 1970s. This material will be especially welcome to fans who can trace the development of John's music, costumes, and hairstyles.

As a long-time fan of the boyish pianist/singer from 1972 with his soul-like sound and star allures, his glamorous suits and glasses, a typical British eccentric, Elton John has grown to be one of the biggest music stars of our time.

The picture quality and sound are fantastic and must be seen on a huge screen with great sound system.  This edition is the only real edition for the real fan. The bonus booklet make it a true collector's item that showcases each of the 33 songs, with details of the song, its release and album it’s taken from, not forgetting the excellent pictures in the booklet.

With a time capsule of over 3 hours, this is one rock show you just can’t miss.
