Westlife: The Greatest Hits Vol 1 (Import)

The stage is set for chart-topping Irish music sensation Westlife to captivate fans across India with their much anticipated ‘The Wild Dreams’ Tour. The global best-selling band will perform live across three cities as part of the India leg of the ‘The Wild Dreams’ Tour, kicking off at the Members Enclosure, RWITC, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Mumbai on Friday, November 24th, followed by Embassy International Riding School Ground, Bengaluru on November 25th and culminate at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on November 26th, 2023.

This fortnight keeping with the visit of the ‘boys’, we review their Greatest Hits Vol 1, which have some favourite tunes that bring back some sweet nostalgic memories of the golden era of music.

Despite forming 25 years ago, Ireland’s most successful band, consisting of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily, is still delighting audiences globally. As a live act, they have sold over five million concert tickets worldwide and counting. Westlife has sold over 55 million records across the globe and is the only band to have their first seven singles enter the UK chart at No.1.

This DVD has the group doing their best. They are entertaining with the vocal harmonizing to perfection. Its two hours and 38 minutes of pure Westlife fun. If you are a pure Westlife fan, you already know how good this group is, for these guys can sing and sing well.

The DVD lists 16 videos, which by any standard is impressive. But, typical of Westlife, the DVD gives you way more than your money's worth in sheer volume. You also get the U.S versions of Swear It Again and World Of Our Own that takes the total to 18 songs and the addition of several 'studio recording' videos, and several 'making of' videos, and two live performances from their Coast To Coast tour raises the total even higher.

The solo work of Shane and Mark is brilliant. The five-part harmonies they achieve on the choruses is vocally awesome. Besides you also have them on the music videos, giving you some added pleasure of watching them again on a new format.

The 'boys' talk about their early career, and trace their memories of each of the songs that comprise their Greatest Hits, as well as some of the funnier and more interesting moments in their career to date. So there is a huge volume of work here, the overwhelming quality of the music.

Before you head to the concert, this month, this is the one DVD I would recommend as the prefect starting place to know more on the young boys, now young men. It will give you plenty to watch and enjoy while we wait to see Westlife in the flesh. Songs you can enjoy on this DVD and hopefully hear at the concert would include Swear It Again, If I Let You Go, Flying Without Wings, Seasons in the Sun, Fool Again, My Love, Uptown Girl, I Lay me Love On You, Unbreakable among many others.

A mini booklet comes with the DVD with the details to all songs on the playlist.
