Behind The Legend - Marvin Gaye (Import)

‘Behind the Legend’ is a musical biography of Marvin Gaye with a special focus on the later period of his life. It has contributions from Gaye's immediate family and from musicians and producers who worked with him. Also included is rare family archive footage of his 'exile' periods in Belgium and Hawaii as well as intimate coverage of his bouts of drug abuse and his triumphant return to Los Angeles.

The program features excerpts from What's Going On, Distant Lover, Come Get to This, Inner City Blues, How Sweet It Is, Sexual Healing from Marvin's 1983 tour and I Heard It Through the Grapevine. As a bonus feature there are live performances of Let's Get It On, a What's Going On medley and a Duets medley.

This DVD has family members sitting and talking about personal things they were aware of or involved with while he was alive. Very interesting. Also it takes you on a journey of his life and what and what he didn't do his good and bad times why he did some of the things he did. Marvin Gaye fans might also enjoy some of the info that it is this DVD.

You get some very personal memories and visuals of this amazing, peace-loving singer by his very current surviving family.

It’s amazing documentary, focusing on the last years of Marvin's life (England, Belgium, etc) but it features amazing interviews with Marvin, Frankie Gaye, Janis Gaye, Freddy Cousaert, David Ritz, Nona Gaye and many members of Marvin's band.

The he gave us will last a lifetime. His life was sad and tormented, but I guess all of the things that he went through helped to make him what he was a really great entertainer for so many people. The music clips are of course brilliant, just as he himself seems to have been a brilliant personality.

This is a heartfelt tribute to Marvin Gaye. The song Nightshift (not on this set) is a tribute to Gaye by the Commodores. .

This video brought back beautiful memories, I highly recommend this video to anyone who loves the music of this singer. A must for Marvin Gaye or Motown admirers.

The inner sleeve has all the details about the DVD and a history on the man himself.
