15th August, 2025Do you remember Beyoncé performing in Mumbai, India, in 2007 ? The former Destiny Child member performed in Mumbai as part of the Asian leg of her ongoing "The Beyonce Experience 2007 World Tour". The concert took place on 27th October 2007 at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority MMRDA, Bandra East, and had a turnout of over 15,000 people attending the concert.
I was one of the lucky few to watch Beyonce live at this Mumbai concert. As a Beyonce fan, I was thoroughly entertained just watching her singing live. The show was stunning from beginning to end. Beyonce is a phenomenal performer and entertainer. The energy from this concert conveys to the DVD we are talking about.
This DVD has the similar experience of 2 hours and 10 minutes magic of the Mumbai concert, except that its filmed at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on the singer's 26th birthday on 2nd September, 2007. The concert includes guest appearances from her then boyfriend Jay-Z on Upgrade You and former Destiny's Child mates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland on the song Survivor and features hits from the albums 'Dangerously In Love' and 'B'Day.' An added attraction is a birthday surprise for the singer, as the entire audience sings Happy Birthday to her.
'The Experience' also comes with a fresh new band, 'Suga Mama' - a sassy all female funk band, something similar who also performed with her at her Mumbai concert.
This concert is a huge improvement over her first solo tour DVD 'Beyonce at Wembley' in terms of music, set design/props/costumes, and most importantly Beyonce's voice and craft. She has matured into perhaps the finest RnB/Pop singer of the 2000's, and amazingly she sounds even better live than on her albums, her vocal runs and control are unmatched. Her dancing and choreography has also improved, influences of belly dancing (Beautiful Liar/Baby Boy), urban hip/hop (Upgrade U) and ballet (Cater 2 U) are interwoven throughout seamlessly. Her entire stage presence, which has always been incredible, is now bolder, and larger than ever - she struts across the stage, whipping her hair and belting her songs with a new found sass and self-assurance that she has now labeled 'Sasha Fierce'.
Beyonce is spectacular and she gives a spectacular performance of her concert on this DVD. She is a true performer and actually sings and not just moves her lips seductively.
This is an outstanding DVD, so if you like Beyonce then you'll love this DVD, however if you're not yet a Beyonce fan, this DVD will for sure change your mind. I would recommend it to anyone. The Dolby 5.1 sound substantially captures her vocals, the music and the crowd's excitement. A must for any music fan.
For those who missed watching Beyonce at her Mumbai concert, here’s some more dope on the concert of the year 2007.
With tickets priced between Rs 1,650 and Rs 2,750, many fans made their dreams come true when the diva performed songs like Crazy in Love, Dangerously in Love, Baby Boy, and Beautiful Liar among many others. Bootylicious was the numero uno track that got the most response from the cheering fans.
The best part of the concert came after the break when Beyonce appeared in a golden pink ghagra choli and sang the poignant ballad I love you which brought tears to her eyes. Her hip hop dance beats clubbed with cheerleaders added that required zing to the concert.
The fireworks and special effects the organisers had arranged added glamour to her silver body-hugging dress giving it an ethereal red shimmer. For a change, Beyonce wasn`t all alone for her Saturday night concert in Mumbai. Accompanying her 10-member all-woman band `Suga Mama` were a couple of men too. The concert that lasted for just two hours did turn out to be a tad disappointing because it started almost an hour late and the crowd expected her to perform for a longer while.
With her critical acclaimed success at a young age and performances at the most prestigious venues in the world, Beyonce has raised the bar for the best of artistes in pop and R&B music.
Sadly the DVD has no Special Features.
