01st April, 2026Filmed on 25th October 2009, U2360° at The Rose Bowl was the penultimate gig of 2008’s U2360° tour in support of their Grammy-nominated album ‘No Line on The Horizon’. The Rose Bowl performance was the band's biggest show of 2009 and U2's biggest ever US show, with a live audience in excess of 97,000.
The show was also streamed across seven continents via YouTube. The first ever live streaming of a full-length stadium concert, U2360° at the Rose Bowl had over 10 million views on the channel in one week.
Shot entirely in HD, the concert was filmed with 27 cameras and directed by Tom Krueger who had previously worked on U23D, the first live action 3D concert movie taken from U2's Vertigo Tour.
Available in standard and two disc deluxe DVD formats, U2360° At The Rose Bowl is also be U2's first concert available in Blu-ray.
Promoting their twelfth studio album, ‘No Line on the Horizon’, the tour kicked off in June 2008 at Barcelona, Spain. The focal point of this massively ambitious tour and the reason it was known as the 360° tour was a claw-shaped stage that allowed a 360-degree, full circle interaction between the audience and the band, best realised in stadiums which was where this entire tour was held. Themed around a space voyage, the stage (architected by Mark Fisher) is constructed as a futuristic four legged space-ship, nicknamed “the claw.” But the massive construction aside, the stage setup is minimalistic, allowing the band plenty of space to move.So trying to describe the experience to someone who wasn't there is almost impossible. The huge claw stage setup was an amazing sight - like something out of a Godzilla movie. But if you couldn't be there, this DVD is the next best thing to give you shots of the whole stage, close ups and every moment of the concert.
Directed by Tom Krueger, this DVD captures the band’s concert at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California. The set-list mostly features tracks from ‘No Line on the Horizon’ but a few inclusions are made from U2’s essential collection, so fans of their earlier hits are not left disappointed.
The take away number on this one would have to be the opener the powerful, nearly flawless, version of Get on your Boots and Magnificent and encouraging performances of Beautiful Day. There’s also the amazing Until the end of the World, the enlightening "I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight, the energy-crazed, speedball Elevation, riveting spinner Vertigo, and the sum of a few cult classics Mysterious Ways and Where the Streets Have No Name. The goose bumps surface with Bono’s echoing rendition of Ben E Kings Stand by Me which is accompanied by a full throated sing-along from the audience.
You also have an emotional version of Sunday Bloody Sunday, The unforgettable fire simply impressive. The audience is always on its feet at any concert and it was here too seen joining in on Amazing Grace leading into Where The Streets Have No Name. The end of a massive show of music with Vertigo and an awesome version of Moment Of Surrender.
Truly if you go by the songs of U2, each song performed that evening had its own little story and taking a cue from u2’s own song, their lyrics were supernatural in its own "mysterious way".
The audio and video quality was great, and so even if you weren’t at the show that night, it really felt like you there at the concert.
The bonus features include documentaries about the tour and music videos from the No Line CD, a bonus track (Breathe), clips from the 360 tour, videos from the opening of the European tour and the North American tour, and more. Overall this movie is incredible and provides a breathtaking concert experience. In my opinion, this is one of U2's best concerts on film.
Don’t miss the booklet enclosed in the plastic DVD case that has some classic photos of the band with song credits.
