Lobo – The Best of

Most of us have grown up listening to the songs of Lobo. His love sonnets are to be cherished as every word is so powerful. Excellent compilation from the '70s singer/songwriter who scored many hits that are fondly remembered and still played be it on CD or radio or even streamed online even three decades later. Lobo was a successful artist during his brief but memorable time at the top of the charts yet he remains largely overlooked when the '70s are discussed at length.

This collection features his best work and has all his hits including his three biggest hits Me & You & a Dog Named Boo, Don't Expect Me to Be Your Friend and I'd Love You to Want Me.

If you go by the lyrics, Lobo is a truly an extraordinary and super talented singer-song writer. His mastery of being such a simple man doing great loving mellow music with a very high quality (unlike today’s noise) is at the very first listen . My favorites besides those above surely are It Sure Took A Long, Long Time, How Can I Tell Her, Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend , Goodbye is just another word, among the 14 tracks on this record.

This LP has sorta a country feel, sort of oldies meets the romantic words so easily understood by even us simple folks.

Lobo's style could variously be described as soft rock or folk-pop. Actually it was a mix of all these elements. If you like Bread, but you'd like something a bit more folksy, Lobo may be just what you're looking for. Lobo is a forgotten singer, but his music is still loved, for his romantic songs are directed to that special person in your life.

Lobo (Roland Kent LaVoie) takes me back to being a young teenager in the early 70s. To me this period was the golden heyday for music. If you like early 70s music as I certainly do, this album/collection will be a great addition to anybody's music collection.
