Reckless - Bryan Adams

In India, Bryan Adams is a favorite, no matter the number of times he has visited and performed across the country, he never fails to get a crowd for his concerts. His songs, many of them are now anthems, with his fans singing every song back to him when he’s here.

This album ‘Reckless’ is one of the greatest pop-rock albums ever made. It's full of songs that are perfect for singing along to while reminiscing about the past. These tracks aren't just songs; they're classic. They don't just remind you of the '80s; they take you there, leather jackets, big hair, and all.

While breakout hits include Run To You, Summer Of ’69 is a glorious hosanna of heavy pop-rock guitar riffs not forgetting its story telling lyrics that every rock fan knows by heart. The soothing strings and synths of Heaven go cold when you hit on the rock edged Kids Wanna Rock and youlisten to those guitar licks courtesy of Mr. Scott. It’s Only Love the only duet on the album is with the late Tina Turner and the collab happened when she was touring in Vancouver during the final week of recording and agreed to come in the studio and perform co-lead vocals. Interestingly, Heaven is the lone power ballad on the album, something Adams would focus on later in his career. The song was recorded in 1983 for the soundtrack for the film A Night in Heaven and features former Journey drummer Steve Smith. Somebody is another good pop-rocker, with an easily catchy hook that makes it a rock anthem.

‘Reckless’ was by all means the first album by a Canadian artist to sell more than one million units within Canada. Not to mention that this his fourth studio album was also a major commercial success well beyond the Canadian borders, charting near the top worldwide and spawning six singles which each reached into the top 15 of Billboard‘s pop charts in the U.S. All of the ten tracks on the album were co-written by Adams and his longtime composing partner Jim Vallence, displaythe masterful ability of this songwriting team to tap into the pop/rock, radio-friendly vibe of the middle eighties.

Bryan Adam's breakthrough album is a collection of electrifying pop-rock tunes that puts his forceful voice on the forefront, seduces audiences with catchy and emotive melodies and solidifies a cool, youthful and romantic image.

Probably his best going by singles alone, this is one sellout album you cannot afford to ignore. The album is like a mini greatest hits compilation in itself.
